Ephesians 1:11–14
The Seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:11–14)
Purpose of a seal in ancient times:
To authenticate the genuineness of something (Romans 8:9)
To show ownership
The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that our inheritance will be there when we get there (1 Corinthians 6:19–20a).
The Faithfulness of God (2 Timothy 2:11–13)
Endurance is not the cause of salvation or security—it is the fruit of salvation.
God’s faithfulness is not dependent on my faithfulness.
Eternal Security: the work of God that guarantees the gift of salvation, once received, is possessed forever and cannot be lost.
