Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of First Baptist Church Tahlequah based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God. (Romans 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)
Trinity
We believe in the Trinity. (1 Corinthians 8:6)
Mankind
We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and that God’s remedy for men’s ruin is entirely of grace through one’s personal acceptance of the finished work in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:23)
Sacrifice
Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and died as our representative on the cross. (John 3:16, 1 John 4:10)
Salvation
We believe that a true believer is secure in Christ forever and is called to live a holy life. (Ephesians 4:30, 1 Peter 1:15-16)
The Church
We believe in the church, the body of Christ, whose mission is to preach the gospel to all the world. (Matt. 28:19-20, 1 Cor. 11:18-32, Rom. 6:3-4)
Ressurection
We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess. 3:13, Colossians 3:4)
