Jesus You Alone Were Our Substitute || Classic Service
2 Corinthians 5:21
- The Character of Our Substitute – He had no sin
- The Sacrifice of Our Substitute – He became sin for us
On the cross Jesus did two things:
- He took our place.
- He took our penalty.
- You can never be saved by what you do for God; you have to be saved by what God did for you in the substitutionary atonement of Jesus on the cross.
- The Gift from Our Substitute – we might become the righteousness of God in Him
As recipients of the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus, it should be our aim to live righteously – for the
righteousness we’ve received on the inside to be manifested on the outside.
If you are really saved, you cannot sin and be happy. Your attitude towards sin changes, because Jesus changes you.
